2018 年 9 月 23 日，共同信息 923 當日，

接著 10 月 8 日，萊斯利再重新增強，風力明顯擴大，
10 月 11 日，葡萄牙離島馬德拉發佈熱帶風暴警報，
萊斯利成為該群島第一個進入 100 英里（160 公里）範圍的熱帶系統，
成為當地有記錄以來第一次的熱帶風暴警報， 在此之前，
勉強算是最接近該群島的熱帶氣旋，是 2005 年的颶風文斯。
馬德拉政府關閉境內所有海灘及公園，
島上超過 180 個體育賽事及八個航空公司航班被迫取消。
10 月 12 日，
颶風萊斯利達到其巔峰強度每小時 90 英里（150 km/h）、
中心最低氣壓 969 百帕， 侵襲伊比利半島（Iberia），

颶風米高開始快速爆發增強，被升格為一級颶風。
9 日晚間，米高被升格為二級颶風。 10 日凌晨，再被升格為三級颶風，
最終更爆發為四級颶風， 成為今年內繼颶風佛羅倫斯後，
第二個登陸美國的同等颶風。
10 月 10 日下午，
排名美國史上第三強的四級颶風米高（Hurricane Michael），
挾帶高達時速 248 公里強風威力，在墨西哥海灘登陸，
登陸時，持續風速僅差兩公里就達到 5 級颶風（每小時 250 公里）；
相比起來，上月強颱風山竹接近香港時，
只造成每小時 189 公里的最高持續風速。
足見颶風米高的強勁姿態， 其中，
部署了全美最多 F-22 隱形戰機的廷德爾空軍基地
（Tyndall Air Force Base），
首當其衝遭受災難性重創。
雖然颶風來襲前，絕大部分戰機及 17 架教練機，
早已飛往俄亥俄州空軍基地暫避， 但仍有部分來不及撤離的 F-22 受災，
從空中鳥瞰，颶風肆虐後留下滿目瘡痍的景象。
