氣候研究小組電郵爭議
（Climatic Research Unit email controversy），
俗稱氣候門事件（Climategate）。
是指2009年11月發生在英國，
隸屬東英吉利大學（University of East Anglia，簡稱UEA）的氣候研究小組（CRU：Climate Research Unit），
被黑客入侵盜取及公開超過一千封1996年以後的電子郵件、
超過三千份內部文件，
以及關於溫室效應研究的一系列電子郵件和檔案。
事件發生於丹麥首都哥本哈根舉行
2009年聯合國氣候變化大會前的數星期，
入侵者從CRU的伺服器裡，
抄走數以千計的電郵副本及電腦檔案，
並且透過互聯網分發到世界各地儲存。
事件起初只是對氣候變化的懷疑論者，
從眾多電郵及檔案裡精挑細選部分，
刊登在他們的網誌上。
其後，經過專欄作家James Delingpole的推波助瀾，
把爭議事件稱之為「氣象門」事件，
使事情如滾雪球般越鬧越大。
懷疑論者認為，
全球氣候變暖其實是有陰謀論者在背後操控。
而對溫室效應持反對意見的團體亦認為，
那些電子郵件是一個陰謀， 藉著篡改數據，
將氣候變遷歸咎於人類活動。
他們將此事當作科學史上的大醜聞來宣傳，
並模仿水門事件（Watergate），
將此事命名為「氣候門（Climategate）」。

available to the public from a Russian server.

Egor, how damaging then are these emails?
Egor，你認為這些電郵的破壞性有多大呢？
Well, first of all,
I’d like to say that this is a great amount of information
Which has just been released to the public
in the internet and this information
has to be analyzsed because according to reports
there're more than a thousand emails
which reflect bits of discussions
between various scientists throughout several years.
首先我要指出，資料的數量非常龐大，
資料不過是剛剛才在網上公開，
這些資料還有待分析，
因為據報這些資料涉及過千封電郵，
反映了不同科學家在過去數年間討論的碎件。
But from the information that
we’ve got so far some of these alleged emails
may actually hold the key or
actually the clues to prove that
the theory of global warming is a huge conspiracy.
但根據我們現時所掌握的資料，
好些涉事電郵似乎是關鍵的證據或線索，
證明全球暖化的理論是巨大的陰謀。
For example, there’s one email
coming from one scientist and in this alleged
email the scientist claims that he had to use additional data
in order to hide the decline of global temperatures.
舉例，其中一位科學家發了一封電郵，
電郵中，這位科學家聲稱要加上額外的數據，
來隱藏全球氣溫下降的的情況。
So, this of course if this is true then
this is proof that this could be against the conspiracy.
當然，假若郵件屬實，就是揭穿陰謀的證據。
There’s another alleged email,
says that there’s been manipulation of data
and that this data may not be actually adequate
in the scales of global warming because some studies according to this alleged email have been done just in several parts of the world but not in the whole world so they do not reflect the whole picture.
還有另一封涉事電郵講到數據被人操控，
並這些數據其實不足以反映全球在暖化，
因為電郵提到有些全球暖化的研究只涉及數個地區，
並非於全球進行，所以不能夠代表整幅大圖片。
So like I said there’s a lot of information which has to be analyzed now and especially there are these claims that this university’s website was attacked by Russian hackers because these emails first emerged on a Russian FTP site.
如我所言，現時要為這許多資料作詳細分析，
尤其有人指控說，大學的網站是受到俄羅斯駭客攻擊的，
因為這些郵件首先出現於俄羅斯FTP網站。
All of this is yet to be proved and determined and has now become a subject of a big investigation.
所有的事情還有待驗證和判斷，
現在已成了一個龐大的調查項目。
So then how are critics against the theory
behind global warming now seizing on this?
那麼反對全球暖化理論的批評者怎樣抨擊這事？
Well, some critics of the theory of the global warming
have already called it proof of the biggest conspiracy
of the 21st century.
某些批評者稱之為21世紀最大陰謀的證據.
Because we know that there's been a lot of talks
going on about global warming on
all level on all governmental levels
and on the levels of just companies and industries.
因為在各個層面上，皆有全球暖化的討論進行中政府、
公司和行業各個層面都有相關討論。
And they said that these emails could be
considered as proof of this huge conspiracy.
有人說這些電郵可被視為巨大陰謀的證據。
However, it's important to stress that
there are also scientists who are also considered to be skeptics of this theory but they say that
they don't actually see that
this could actually be considered so far.
然而，需要強調的是，
也有懷疑全球暖化理論的科學家說
他們實際上並不認為這能視為證據，
他們並沒有證據證明這是巨大的陰謀。
but they say that these articles or this information
which has been published could have been actually not meant for the public, because they are not scientifically correct and that's why this university
has been trying to hide them from the public.
但他們說這些洩露出來的文章或資料本來不被公開的原因，
是因為沒有科學根據這就是
為何這所大學一直試圖向公眾隱瞞資料。
so this creates just more mystery about the story since the skeptics are not sure that this can be considered as real proof of any conspiracy.
因此，這產生更多關於這事件的謎團，
懷疑者不肯定能否視之為任何陰謀的證明。
But it does look possible that those emails
had been written by British scientists.
但這些郵件好可能是由英國科學家寫的。
So what about those scientists?
那麼那些科學家呢？
What if they had to say now about claim
they're actually manipulating figures for their own course?
對於操縱數字的指控，他們有什麼回應？
Well, the university itself has confirmed that
its website was attacked by hackers,
although it did not specify which of these emails actually were authentic and which could have been falsified or whether they were actually in fact falsified.
大學本身已經證實其網站遭到黑客攻擊，
雖然它沒有說明哪些電郵是真實的哪些可能被偽造，
或是否被偽造，
So this is also going to be investigated.
因此這還有待調查。
but actually some of the scientists who did confirm that
some of these emails belong to them
and were written by them earlier.
但事實上一些科學家也證實有些電子郵件屬於他們，
並由他們寫的。
They said that these are just bits of information taken out
of the context of their emails and of the messages that
they wanted to make
and they do not reflect the meaning of what
they actually wanted to say in these messages.
他們說這些只是被斷章取義的電郵和信息，
並不反映他們寫這些信息時的原義。
